Stanley Park is Blackpool's most significant park at 256 acres, It is a Grade II
listed park and has enjoyed continued popularity since its opening in 1926, it contains
everything that any local community or out-of-town visitor could possibly wish for.
There is a dazzling array of ornamental gardens, a large kids play area, a boating
lake where you can hire boats for a trip on the lake and woodlands as well as a
Clock Tower and a superb Art Deco Café. The park also contains superb sporting
recreational facilities including Stanley Park Golf Course, Blackpool Sports
Centre, Blackpool Cricket Ground and Athletic Arena, not to mention numerous
outdoor pitches, greens and courts.
Blackpool has one of the largest stetches of sand in the country all in all
there is 7 miles from one end to the other, perfect for relaxing on a hot summers day
you can hire a deckchair or just simply sit on the sand and theres plenty to keep the
kids happy from building sandcastles, paddling in the sea, traditional
donkey rides, and quite often you will find huge inflatable slides up and down the beach.
Theres also plenty of refreshment stands and ice cream vans up and down the
beach and prom !
The Sand Dunes is a natural formation of sand raised into large hills perfect for a
picnic, it does nt take a lot of imagination to believe your in the desert and kids
love running up and down the dunes, just behind the dunes is another section of beach
which is much quiter than the beaches closer to town.
Blackpool Model Village
As seen on TV, the village and gardens are set into a stunningly beautiful landscaped
2½ acres of carefully tended gardens and paved pathways .
Marvel at the many hand crafted models and figures that represent lifes rich tapestry
and step back in time to those bygone days when life seemed to move at a slower pace
from a Scottish Castle, protected by its ranks of Guardsmen to a tranquil
Cornish fishing village.
